NO LATES:
On time means that assignments done in class are turned in at the end of class. Homework is due at the start of the period. Classwork and homework will not be accepted late, unless you are absent (due to illness or unforeseen circumstances) from school on the day it is due. In that case, your assignment will be due when you return. Students who legitimately need more time for an assignment will be required to stay after school with me on the day it is due in order to receive credit. If you are absent, quizzes must be made up within two days, starting the day you return to school. Projects and essays will lose ten points per day that they are late (accepted up to five days late – including weekends and holidays), unless you are absent. In that case, your work will be due the day you return to school. Absences due to field trips/vacations or other planned events are due on the assigned due date – make plans with me to get them in on time! We can work out an earlier date, email, etc. Please note that assignment due dates cannot be extended past the end of the five weeks or marking period. |

Classroom Rules and Expectations
Effort
Everyone can be successful if they put forth the effort. Success is measured by your skills improving.
Therefore, I expect each student to demonstrate their best effort each day.
Behavior
Disrespect and disruption, of myself or other members of the classroom, will not be tolerated. Language which insults others for any reason is never acceptable. If you need to move from your seat, while someone is speaking to the class, raise your hand.
Cell phones
Cell phones are not allowed in class, unless a student has been given explicit permission to use it for academic purposes. If not, and I see it, I will take it. Please see the parent/student handbook on our school policy.
Preparedness
All materials that you need for class need to be out and ready at the start of class. Bring your own writing utensils EVERY DAY.
Participation
I welcome your feedback, questions and comments. However, interrupting me or another student by calling out is unacceptable. Raise your hand. There will be moments where we will have class discussion where this is not necessary, but I will indicate when this is the case.
Coming and Going
Please enter the room aware of where you are. As this is a classroom, I expect you to be using appropriate language and volume for the space. There will be no superfluous trips out of the room during class. When it is time to leave, I dismiss you (not the bell).
There will be no packing up early, no crowding of the door.
Actions and Consequences
If you fail to follow the classroom procedures or school policies, appropriate steps will be taken, depending on the infraction. Verbal warnings, one-one conferences, detention, parent contact and referrals are possible consequences.
Concerns
If you are overwhelmed with work, need extra help, are ill, have a family emergency - anything that prevents you from completing your work successfully, see me ASAP. Do not wait until it is a crisis. We will figure out a plan for you to get back on track. NEVER turn in work that is not your own. This includes copying other classmates’ work and work from the internet. You will receive no credit and a referral, as is school policy.
