English 10: 1 unit of credit
In English 10, students are continuing to develop the skills and competencies needed to successfully participate in this global, 21st century world and to master the Next Generation English Language Arts Learning Standards. They will learn and practice these blended skills of reading, writing, and speaking through multiple modes aligned with key areas of study in Global Ten. They will read a variety of classic and contemporary texts, in order to analyze and respond to those texts, both literally and figuratively. They will analyze and create argumentative informative and narrative essays, as well as other texts. In addition, they will participate in small and large group discussions, and practice presenting in small and large group formats. Throughout each area of study, they will also learn and practice Standard English conventions in writing while working to expand their vocabulary.
